Building God A Great House

1 Chronicles 28:10 "Consider now, for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong, and do it.”

The Temple of God or the Tabernacle is sometimes referred also to as the House of God. The church is too the House of God. We read and feel excited about how King David wanted to build God a great house on earth. But we must remind ourselves the house of God is not limited to a physical structure or building. These were but a physical representation of a spiritual concept. The real house that God wants to reside in is YOU...

There is a spiritual house that you and I are building in the heavens. We have to give an account things done in the physical body. For every physical act done in the body, we are adding materials to the house we build in the heavenlies. Jesus likened how we live our current life to building a spiritual house.

Matthew 7:24-27 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

There is a game in facebook called Pet Society that illustrates very well. In this game, you build your pet a house and chooses what furnitures your pet's house should have. Likewise, in this spiritual house you are building, you are either adding noble things or ignoble things. Apostle Paul has also urged us to get rid of materials that doesn't help us at the Day of Judgement.

1 Cor 3:9 "...you are God’s field, you are God’s building."

2 Tim 2:20-21 "In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work."

1 Cor 3:12-15 "If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames."

At the end of the day, it's all about building a house that will stand the fire of God's Presence when He comes to dwell in your house which you built... what is the state of your house right now? Before the Lunar New Year, the Chinese have a practice to spring clean their houses to get rid of things they won't need for the new year. Is it time for you to spring clean your spritual house?

"Father, you have revealed that each of us are building our house in the heavenlies with our physical actions whether we are aware of it or not. What we sow in the physical, we sow in the spiritual. Help us to get rid of ignoble things, things that doesn't really matter on that Day. Help us have an eternal perspective of every physical thoughts and actions. Help us build You a great house where Your Presence will dwell. Where we are weak, God you are strong... In Jesus' Name Amen!"
